Feature story from the Summer 2008 Newsletter:
When Vancouver Island locals found themselves struggling to fund the services necessary to support members, they decided to band together to begin discussions and ultimately decided to merge.
What was once several small Vancouver Island locals is now a flourishing local of more than 600 members capable of providing all member services more effectively and efficiently, and at a reduced cost. Prior to the merger, each of the four locals had membership bases of less than 120, and all were struggling to provide complete member services.
Pooling their collective resources enabled these locals to come together to provide members and signatory contractors with a high level of service, and to stand strong and united against all obstacles.
Dave Crosby, who at the time was the chair of a group of volunteer members trying to find a way to save their island local, was the driving force behind the start of merger discussions that began in 2006.
