Bentall Memorial

Reflecting on the solemn but crucial reminder from the Bentall Memorial this January 7th.

CMAW Representatives attended the Bentall Memorial outside Burrard Station in downtown Vancouver on Friday January 5th, 2024, to remember the four construction workers who tragically died on the job 43 years ago.

We pay tribute to Carpenters Gunther Couvreux, Brian Stevenson, Donald Davis, and Yrjo Mitrunen, who fell 36 floors to their deaths. Beyond the industry’s safety concerns, for their families, this annual memorial is a poignant reminder of the irreplaceable loved ones they lost.

Let us come together, not just in remembrance but in a collective commitment to making our construction sites safer.
